The Arboretum Group exists to encourage appreciation of the beautiful trees in our woodland village and to help with educating and understanding our very special arboricultural environment. West Hill is a unique place with many more trees than most other villages. These provide us with clean air, privacy, wildlife habitat, and a beautiful landscape.
We organise walks around the village with a tree specialist every few months for anybody to join in. We also have the Village Tree Warden as one of our committee.
Identifying and Reporting Diseased Trees
In 2023, we held a competition for children at West Hill School to produce an article about their favourite tree. Elena Carpenter produced the best entry, which you can see in the document below:
